Anchor Hope is making an impact in Guilford County

Community Resource center

Over 75 children have visited the Anchor Hope Community Resource Center since we first opened our doors in August 2020. They have stayed anywhere from a couple of hours up to two months. During their stay they are provided 3 meals per day, clean clothes, toiletries, blankets, stuffed animals, toys to play with, and a clean bed to sleep in.

Life skills training

During the 2020 - 2021 school year we worked with 50 teenagers through the Department of Social Services to provide life skills training to teens ages 13 to 18. Many teens in foster care do not have the skills they need when they turn 18, and can be on their own without a family. Our life skills program helps them with planning for college, finances, housing, food preparation, preparing a budget, and finding a job just to name a few.

Sibling visits

The Anchor Hope Community Resource Center (CRC) is also available for sibling visits. It is very common for children in foster care to be placed with separate foster families for various reasons. The CRC provides a safe place where children can visit with their siblings while they play with toys or on the playground. They can share a meal, watch a movie or just hangout. We have served multiple sibling groups over the past year with some siblings returning on a weekly or monthly basis.
